Ski Wentworth announces lift-accessed mountain biking in 2024

As part of a long-term four-season strategy, Ski Wentworth has been working with the Wentworth Mountain Bike Association to take mountain biking in Nova Scotia to new heights.

Ski Wentworth will operate the first lift-accessed downhill mountain bike facility in Nova Scotia starting summer of 2024.

Ski Wentworth has been offering uphill access mountain biking on its current trail network managed by the Wentworth Mountain Bike Association for the past three years. Lift-accessed mountain biking allows riders to load their mountain bikes and ride up on the chairlift.

In addition to current mountain bike trails and infrastructure, 2024 investments include; development of new downhill trails, new bike carrier trays and hooks for Cobequid chair, additional bike wash stations and a mountain bike rental fleet. To encourage new riders, Ski Wentworth will be launching Learn-to-Ride programming, with a focus on basic skills and safe riding.

To ensure a smooth transition for current trail pass holders, WMBA will not automatically renew current members for 2024. Ski Wentworth will offer both lift and pedal access passes prior to the network opening next season.

“We’re very excited to venture into four seasons of operation,” said Leslie Wilson, Ski Wentworth President. “We’ve been blown away by the popularity of our mountain bike trails and summer food service at The Barn. Thanks to the commitment of the WMBA, volunteers and  Wentworth staff, we’re now ready to take the sport to the next level in Nova Scotia. We’ll roll out more details as we get closer to the summer season.”

“I’m very proud of what our volunteer team and generous founding sponsors have accomplished,” said Matt Ferguson, WMBA Chair. “It truly was a community effort to reach this point and I thank each and every person who donated their time, tools and sweat to lay the foundations of this trail network. On behalf of the WMBA, our dedicated volunteers and members I would like to thank the Wilson family for their support since we partnered on our vision in 2020. We are grateful for their significant capital investment in infrastructure, trail development and staff that will elevate the mountain bike experience in this beautiful part of our Province. The WMBA will remain very active with Ski Wentworth. Our team will start work right away focusing on competitive events and continuing work to sanction & expand trail development in the Wentworth Valley.”
